Pedro Guimar\u00e3es was born in 1974 in Guimar\u00e3es. His educational background includes training in the arts, design and creative drawing. His taste for drawing and painting is evident very early in his life, making his first exhibition at the age of 16 at the Braga Youth Centre.<\/p>\n

In 2011 he moved to Cantabria, Spain, having the opportunity to exhibit his work there. In 2005 he received the “Arte Cant\u00e1bria” prize awarded by the renowned painters Fernando Bermejo, Francisco Santibanez and the sculptor Em\u00edlia Trueba.<\/p>\n

Back in Portugal, he established his studio in Guimar\u00e3es. He devoted more and more time to the visual arts until he made his art his exclusive activity. Since then, Pedro Guimar\u00e3es has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, both in Portugal and abroad, revealing intense and always innovative artistic production.<\/p>\n

He executed a piece of art that portrays Dr.\u00aa Maria Cavaco Silva with the technique of three different views, being received in 2014 at the Palace of Bel\u00e9m by the President of the Republic and the First Lady, in an act of recognition for his work.<\/p>\n

Pedro Guimar\u00e3es’ works are part of private collections all over the world: Nigeria, Sweden, Holland, USA, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, France, Spain, Angola, Puerto Rico and Lebanon.<\/p>\n

Since January 2016 his work has been exhibited at the renowned Georges Berg\u00e8s Gallery in Soho, New York.<\/p>\n

Pedro Guimar\u00e3es’ work is based on a conceptual language he has created, which he defines as “the true transparent reaction of our consciousness with the synapses that make us unique and influence the direction of our concepts, associating colours and shapes.<\/p>\n

Enjoying a wide creative freedom, Pedro Guimar\u00e3es uses a variety of resources and materials. The possibilities are endless and the paths are multiple. The artist works with concepts and attitudes. In his works we can find figurative art and abstract art, sometimes the contraposition between the two. His work is characterised by originality and the desire to surprise. The rebelliousness and boldness of this Portuguese artist are evident in his desire to broaden the definition of art, seeking the combination of unexpected materials and techniques.<\/p>\n

An emerging creator who presents a multidisciplinary language that starts from drawing and painting to something truly bold and trendy. Pedro Guimar\u00e3es constantly tries to explore the multiple ways of observing, emphasising the humanism present in figurative painting.<\/p>\n

No seu percurso escolar passa pela forma\u00e7\u00e3o na \u00e1rea das artes, do design e desenho criativo. O seu gosto pelo desenho e pintura evidencia-se bastante cedo na sua vida, fazendo a sua primeira exposi\u00e7\u00e3o com apenas 16 anos no Centro de Juventude de Braga.<\/p>\r\n

Em 2011 muda-se para a Cant\u00e1bria, Espanha, tendo oportunidade de a\u00ed expor os seus trabalhos. Em 2005 recebeu o pr\u00e9mio \u201cArte Cant\u00e1bria\u201d atribu\u00eddo pelos conceituados pintores Fernando Bermejo, Francisco Santibanez e a escultora Em\u00edlia Trueba.<\/p>\r\n

De volta a Portugal \u00e9 em Guimar\u00e3es que estabelece o seu atelier. Vai dedicando cada vez mais tempo \u00e0s artes pl\u00e1sticas at\u00e9 fazer da sua arte a sua atividade exclusiva. Desde ent\u00e3o, Pedro Guimar\u00e3es participa em v\u00e1rias exposi\u00e7\u00f5es, individuais e coletivas, quer em Portugal quer no estrangeiro, revelando produ\u00e7\u00e3o art\u00edstica intensa e sempre inovadora.<\/p>\r\n

Executou uma pe\u00e7a de arte que retrata a Dr\u00aa Maria Cavaco Silva com a t\u00e9cnica tr\u00eas vistas diferentes, sendo em 2014 recebido no Pal\u00e1cio de Bel\u00e9m pelo Presidente da Rep\u00fablica e pela Primeira-Dama, num ato de reconhecimento pelo seu trabalho.<\/p>\r\n

Os trabalhos de Pedro Guimar\u00e3es fazem parte de cole\u00e7\u00f5es privadas um pouco por todo o mundo: Nig\u00e9ria, Su\u00e9cia, Holanda, EUA, Nova Zel\u00e2ndia, Ar\u00e1bia Saudita, Fran\u00e7a, Espanha, Angola, Porto Rico e L\u00edbano.<\/p>\r\n

Desde Janeiro de 2016 que o seu trabalho est\u00e1 exposto na conceituada Georges Berg\u00e8s Gallery no Soho em Nova Iorque.<\/p>\r\n
